Replacing the LCD and Control Panel in the TITAN Series Cutter
This guide covers all sizes and version of the Titan, Titan 2, and Titan 3
Time: >20 min.
Tools Required:
Phillips Head Screw Driver
Steps:
1. In order to replace the LCD and Control Panel, both end caps will need to be removed, and the cross bar will need to be lifted. Start by removing the 4 screws securing the right end cap to the cutter. After removing the screws, the end cap can be gently pulled away from the cutter. Repeat this process for the left end cap.
2. There are 4 screws that hold the
cross bar to the frame of the TITAN cutter. Remove only one screw from each side of the cross bar. Preferably remove the front screw from each side. This will allow the cross bar to be flipped up without needing to remove it completely.
3. Remove the 4 screws that mount the Control Panel and LCD to the cross bar. This will allow the LCD and Control Panel to be removed.
While replacing the control panel please be careful with the flat ribbon connections to the LCD and Control panel.
4. Access the motherboard to disconnect the LCD and Control Panel flat ribbon cables. There are two ways to access the motherboard with a Titan. This has changed in recent years as the manufacturer's have made it easier to access. First roll the Titan cutter so it is laying on its back and the rectangular bottom panel can be seen. On the right side of the bottom panel there should be a plastic door. Removing this plastic door will give access to the motherboard on newer models of Titan cutters.
If your cutter does not have the plastic door on the bottom of the cutter, then you will need to remove the front and back plates on the cutter. This can be done by removing the screws along the front and back edge of the cutter. After removing the screws, the front and back panels can be pulled off.
5. Un plug the flat ribbon cables that come from the old Control Pad and connect the ones from the new part paying attention to the cable orientation.
